Founded in 1988 in Belgium, Essege was the European co-leader in the distribution of liquid-fuel-powered portable heaters. Its products were distributed through the group’s own brand names and produced by a Korean industrial company. Essege manufactured the necessary fuels for its heaters from two bottling facilities located in Belgium and Spain. The group distributed approximately 80% of its products via DIY and house-and-garden store chains, the remainder being sold through supermarket chains.
